Clear the clutter in you loived one's care plan

Clear the Clutter in Your
Loved One's Care Plan

If you're the primary caregiver for an aging loved one, you know how quickly the paperwork, phone calls, and appointments can pile up. Fall is the perfect time to reset — to clear out outdated information, simplify routines, and get ahead of what's coming.

Here's the difference having a care manager can make:

With a Care Manager – Appointments are planned ahead, preventative screenings (eye exams, primary care checkups, dental) are on the calendar, and changes in health, schedule, or services are handled before they pile up. You have a trusted partner making sure nothing slips through the cracks.

Without a Care Manager – You're juggling paperwork, chasing down medical records, trying to remember what's due next, and scrambling to find help when something changes. Preventative screenings get delayed, important appointments are forgotten, and the constant "What did I miss?" question keeps you up at night. The stress builds, burnout creeps in, and you're left feeling like you're doing it all alone.

We handle the details so you can handle life with less stress — and more peace of mind.

Celebrate Compassion

Celebrating National Assisted Living Week

Earlier this month, we celebrated National Assisted Living Week, a time to recognize the dedicated professionals, supportive communities, and enriching environments that make assisted living more than just a place to live.

Assisted living communities provide residents with the care, safety, and support they need while encouraging independence and a sense of belonging. The staff who make this possible bring patience, compassion, and dedication to their work every day — and they deserve our deepest appreciation.

In her work as a Healthcare Navigator & Advocate, Kara Turner has seen firsthand how the right assisted living community can transform the quality of life for both residents and their families. She guides families through the process of finding the right fit, coordinating the move, and ensuring their loved ones feel at home.

While National Assisted Living Week may be over, the recognition and gratitude for these communities and their teams should continue all year long.

Business Women's Day

Recognizing American Business Women's Day

This month, we celebrated American Business Women's Day, a time to honor the achievements, leadership, and contributions of women in the workplace and in business ownership. It's a day to reflect on the progress women have made, the challenges they've overcome, and the impact they continue to have in every industry.

As the owner of Turner Care Management, Kara Turner brings not only her expertise as a Healthcare Navigator & Advocate but also her experience as a successful businesswoman. Building a business rooted in compassion, advocacy, and professionalism requires dedication — and Kara embodies these qualities in every interaction with the families she supports.

While American Business Women's Day may be one day on the calendar, it's important to recognize and support women in business all year long. Their leadership and innovation continue to shape stronger communities and inspire future generations.

What to look for in a care manager

Choosing the Right Care Manager Matters

Not all care managers offer the same level of support. The right one can bring you peace of mind, reduce your stress, and help your loved one get the care they deserve. Here's what to look for — and why it matters:

  • Aging Life Care Association Member – Membership shows a commitment to high professional standards, ongoing education, and ethical practices.
  • Above & Beyond Care – Some care managers only work with certain ages or diagnoses. Look for one who supports a wide range of needs with personalized solutions.
  • Sliding Fee Scale – Flexible rates ensure quality care management is accessible to more families, regardless of budget.
  • Healthcare Experience – A background in healthcare means your care manager understands medical systems, terminology, and how to advocate effectively.
  • 24/7 Availability – Emergencies don't wait for business hours. You need someone ready to respond any time, day or night.

If you want someone who meets all of these standards — and will be in your corner every step of the way — call Kara today.

Enjoy the season

Autumn Leaves and Cozy Mornings:
Enjoy the Magic in the Air

There's something special about autumn — the crispness in the air, the vibrant colors of falling leaves, and those first cozy mornings when you reach for a warm mug and a soft blanket. It's a season that invites us to slow down, take a deep breath, and appreciate life's simple pleasures.

Fall is also a perfect time to check in on loved ones and make sure their care and daily routines are ready for the cooler months ahead. Whether it's preparing the home for safety, updating care plans, or simply sharing a cup of tea together, these small acts of connection bring warmth that lasts long after the leaves have fallen.

As the season unfolds, take a moment to enjoy the beauty around you — and the magic that comes from slowing down and being present.

Labor Day

Labor Day
Honoring the Unseen Labor of Love in Caregiving

Because caring for a loved one is work worth recognizing — today and every day.

Primary caregiving is one of the hardest jobs there is. It's 24/7, it's emotionally and physically demanding, and it's often unseen by the rest of the world. While others take a day off for Labor Day, family caregivers keep going — because love doesn't clock out.

If you're a caregiver, this is your reminder that your work matters. Your dedication matters. And you deserve support as much as your loved one deserves care.

If the load feels heavy and you need help managing it, Kara is here to stand beside you.

Day in the life...

Day in the Life: Inside the World of a Care Manager

Ever wonder what a care manager's day really looks like? It's a balance of planning, problem-solving, and personal connection — all focused on making life easier and safer for clients and their families.

A typical day might start with reviewing client care plans and checking in on any urgent needs. From there, it could include visiting clients at home or in care communities to assess their well-being, coordinating with healthcare professionals, and attending medical appointments as an advocate. Behind the scenes, there's scheduling, organizing medical records, researching resources, and updating families on progress and changes.

Every task, big or small, is part of a larger goal: ensuring each client has the right care, at the right time, in the right place. It's work that requires both heart and skill — and at Turner Care Management, we're honored to do it every day.
